Our Story Begins

Tomorrow evening we will pick up two sisters that have been praying for God to give them a home and a family. As I finished making their beds tonight, I couldn't help but think of Mary as she prepared to give birth to the Jesus. Thinking of what she must have felt...to be chosen by God to bring His Son into this world to save us. What a huge responsibility. I'm sure she was feeling somewhat inadequate at the task set before her. But He chose her.

She was just a simple girl, who trusted God.

I, too, feel as though God has chosen me for this incredible privilege of raising these two girls. I have so many emotions flooding my mind today as I realize this is our last night just the two of us. Tomorrow we become parents. Something we have prayed about for years. We always had a heart for adoption, but never imagined how exactly God would grow our family. This is unexpected, but so Him.

We had to introduce them to a 'pizookie'!

We are excited and look forward to getting to know these girls better. Last Saturday we had a sleepover with them where we picked out and decorated a Christmas tree, ate at our favorite restaurant and then played some fun games. It was amazing how they just fit with us. Due to the nature of our situation, we are not allowed to post pictures-which KILLS me! But hopefully one day we will be able to flood the blogosphere with our first joyful memories together!

So tomorrow we become parents. Please pray for us as we begin this journey. We are in awe of God's goodness in our lives. Thank you to all of the friends and family that made their rooms extra special! The gifts have blessed us tremendously! We love you!

  1. You guys are going to do great. Just trust the Father to guide and know that you have support and people around you to help you in this. Can't wait to serve you all and work with you as you parent these girls. God does nothing on accident or without purpose. He has prepared for this day since long before you existed.
